![]() Manga-only: He reveals that the previous second-in-command was killed by Mukuro for too much sass.***. ![]() Yomi could you really not find anyone better Fun fact: this is about half the amount of time Shachi has been Yomi’s right hand. He has been Mukuro’s second-in-command for over 200, ~250 years. His stats blow Hokushin and Shachi’s out of the water in every category. This is how he’s introduced during the PowerPoint presentation in Yomi’s boardroom. Kirin is considered a sorcerer/master of demonic arts. The rain association is interesting because Mukuro’s other highly-ranked warrior is Shigure (” autumn rain”). but in Japanese, there are additional meanings of desolation and loneliness. In Chinese, the most common meaning is drizzling, drenching, dripping etc. There was a long period of many years when I hadn’t reread the manga that I kept misremembering the second character and thinking it was 林/“forest”, but it’s actually 淋 - water falling on a forest. My attempt would be something like “strange pouring” or “mysterious falling of water” lol. It’s actually a homonym in both Japanese and Chinese with totally different kanji. Kirin’s name means - surprise - not “unicorn”.Let’s begin with what we know for sure from the series. Feel free to ignore my commentary if it doesn’t serve your own creative purposes! While I started this by compiling the known facts, I ended up veering into many of my extrapolations and thoughts from my attempts writing him in One and a Half Revolutions Around the Sun, The enemy of my enemy is my coworker and The Right and Left Hand of the Emperor. So I didn’t feel it was fair to call this a cheatsheet since obviously there’s so much other stuff being inserted. I had a lot of fun making the monks cheatsheet so I thought I’d take a stab at someone even more obscure in his depiction than the monks (aside from maybe Nankai) - Kirin. ![]()
